Dr. Pinkston prides himself on being a very open and honest physician, so when you ask him a question, you can trust that the answer is 100% true and based on the latest research. We invite all of our patients to ask questions so they can be empowered and have the knowledge they need to make well-informed decisions about their care. Below, we’ve gone ahead and answered some of our most common questions, but you can ask us anything you like by giving us a call.

What is orthobiologic medicine?

Orthobiologic medicine refers to a quickly evolving field that focuses on boosting and concentrating the body’s natural healing powers to help someone overcome pain and injury. Despite commonly being referred to as regenerative medicine, tissues will not necessarily be re-growing in all cases but the relief can be substantial. This is done using treatments like PRP, prolotherapy, or mesenchymal stem cell containing tissue such as bone marrow or adipose.

Can you treat my back/neck/knee pain?

Yes, from acupuncture to osteopathic manipulation to non-surgical orthopedics we offer a variety of options that can help treat any part of the body that has suffered an injury, whether the problem is associated with a muscle, tendon, ligament, or nerve. Our training and ultrasound-guided injections help us target exactly what is hurting a patient and treat it directly to achieve the best and longest-lasting results.

Which one is best: biologic cell therapy, prolotherapy, or PRP?

These injectable treatments may have the same goal (to help a patient stop feeling pain and heal), but they all accomplish this in different ways, and they have distinctive price points as well. This means what is ideal for one patient might not be the best choice for another. Dr. Pinkston can help you decide which approach would be the right fit for your situation.

How is Dr. Pinkston qualified to provide orthobiologic medicine?

Dr. Pinkston is a highly-trained osteopathic doctor. In addition to medical school, he has also worked under and learned from some of the top experts in orthobiologic medicine during his residency, plus he’s trained to provide medical acupuncture by the Helms Medical Institute.

Is orthobiologic medicine expensive?

Undergoing orthobiologic medicine guided by a physician is certainly more expensive than simply getting a prescription for painkillers, but it is much less expensive compared to invasive surgery that can permanently alter the structure and function of the body. Orthobiologic medicine is designed to deliver lasting relief. Thankfully, our practice has plenty of options to help make our care easily affordable.

Will you accept my insurance?

Our practice currently does not participate in any insurance plans, and most of our treatments are not covered anyway. To help our patients take care of their bodies without sacrificing their wallets in the process, we participate in low-to-no interest financing. Contact our office to learn more.
